Job Description

Require an experienced Senior Business Analyst/Data Lead with experience in driving and developing business and functional requirements. The person will work on a key project to design processes, rules and requirements for a Solvency II project. The person will also serve as a central point of business contact for all data related items and maintain a central data directory / data dictionary.

Accountabilities and Experience:
• Prior experience in managing a data directory or data dictionary
• Understand traceability with data elements from source systems to ‘down-stream’ systems
• Ability to manage a large amount of data and facilitate traceability to final solutions
• Extremely detail oriented and thorough in documentation
Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel and capabilities
• Six (6+) or more years of progressively responsible business analysis experience is required.
• Highly skilled at interviewing stakeholders, facilitating business requirements meetings and documenting requirements. Documentation MUST be well organized and easily understood by all audiences.
• Skilled at conducting requirements workshops and walk through meeting with all audiences, updating requirements documents accordingly and securing appropriate approvals.
• Skilled at analysis and analysis techniques (Documenting the current process, defining a new process, and analyzes the gap between those two states).
• Understand the difference/distinction between business requirements and functional requirements and crafts documentation accordingly.
• Ability to work independently and facilitate /lead discussion and meetings with business and project resources. Must be capable of effectively communicating with stakeholders who are physically located outside of the Des Moines area. Must be a self starter who thrives in an environment with a certain level and ambiguity. Must readily adapt to the culture within the company.
• It is critical this person have a strong sense of urgency and ownership and ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Excellent business analysis facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills are a must.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Access, Visio, Project, Power Point, etc)
• Experience in Life Insurance/Annuity business preferred
• Previous work with actuarial departments preferred

Role and Responsibilities:
• Understanding data/information flow across all work streams
• Serve as the single point of contact for all data and reporting requirements
• Provide central ownership of project data directory / data dictionary
• Provide consistent business representation of data and first point of contact for IT with questions
• Help gather and facilitate agreement on data definitions
• Assist in monitoring/auditing data quality
• Accountable for partnering with the business to develop, document, test and implement business requirements. Could includes use cases, business and/or system process flows for current and future state.
• Accountable for keeping the requirement process on task and on schedule.
• Assists the Project Manager in identifying project activities, tasks, estimates, durations and/or timelines related to the requirements and UAT testing activities.
• Accountable for keeping the requirement process on task and on schedule.
• Schedules and facilitates requirement workshops.
• Communicates issues to Project Manager and team as they arise.
• Collaborates with training lead and trainers to create appropriate training materials.
• Collaborates with Change Management lead as needed.
• Reports written weekly status to PM. Status includes identification of issues & risks.
• Attends other project related meetings as needed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
